Tigers complete season sweep of Cardinals

West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team finished off a season sweep of Triad on Friday with a 67-53 win over the host Cardinals in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.

It was the final regular-season game for the Tigers, who finish at 17-5 overall. They were second in the OHC with a 12-2 mark. The Cardinals fell to 6-15, 4-10.

WL-Salem grabbed a 14-9 lead after the opening quarter and the Tigers held a 37-19 halftime advantage.

Landon Hormann fueled the Tigers with a game-high 27 points, Max Bailey had 13 points and Connor Woods added 11 points.

For the Cardinals, Ethan Jones tallied 12 points and Ryan Boyd had 10 points.

In junior varsity action, WL-Salem won 34-17. Cole Wilson led the Tigers with eight points.

Triad hosts West Jefferson on Tuesday in a regular-season finale, while WL-Salem begins tournament play on Saturday, Feb. 23, against Brookville at Tippecanoe High School.
