Anyone who knows me understands that this is both the most stressful and most exciting time of the year for me.
Wrestling has become a big part of my life, and from November until April it consumes me. I am locking in as teams across the state prepare to start the postseason next weekend at the sectional tournament.
Along with that comes my major project of every wrestling season, The LaBatt Report.
No, I’m far from taking over for Brian Brakeman, who has forecasted the Ohio wrestling scene for the past 40 years. I do enjoy evaluating the Southwest Ohio wrestling scene, though, and that has inspired me produce the 10th annual LaBatt Report.
I have been working relentlessly for the past two weeks researching and compiling data. I am in the writing phase now and expect it to be done by early next week, if not sooner. Last year’s report was 41 pages and this edition should double that. It will be posted online at http://alabatt.webs.com/labattreports.htm or you can follow me on Twitter at @alabatt145 to check it out.
The focus of my report, at first, was to gain a proper perspective of the district tournament to see how our area wrestlers would do in the postseason. I have always forecasted on the district our Division II teams would compete at.
