Rams prevail over Tigers

Greeneview’s boys basketball team grabbed a key league win Friday by defeating visiting West Liberty-Salem 51-40 in Ohio Heritage Conference action.

The victory puts the Rams in the driver’s seat for the OHC title. They are now in first place with an 11-1 mark and are 16-3 overall.

The Tigers won the first meeting with the Rams 57-54, but now drop to second place in the OHC at 10-2 and 14-5 overall.

WL-Salem got off to a slow start in the first quarter and saw Greeneview take a 16-4 lead.

The Tigers bounced back with a 12-6 run in the second quarter to trail by six (22-16) at halftime.

Greeneview remained ahead by six points (35-29) at the end of the third period.

WL-Salem was unable to make up any ground in the fourth quarter as the Rams pulled away.

The Tigers were led by Landon Hormann with 16 points and Grant Burden tallied 15 points.

Evan Bradds led the Rams with a game-high 28 points.

In junior varsity action, WL-Salem clipped Greeneview 35-31. Brandon Adams led the Tigers with 14 points.

WL-Salem travels to Anna today for a non-league matchup.
