A familiar face is stepping back into the head coaching position for the West Liberty-Salem softball team this spring.
Dennis McIntosh, who led the Tigers from 1992 to 2001, was named the new head coach at last week’s board of education meeting. He takes over for Lanay Cordell, who is stepping down after 10 years at the helm. She plans to pursue a master’s degree.
McIntosh was an assistant coach for Cordell for the past five seasons and helped the Tigers reach the Division III state tournament three times.
“I’m glad to get another opportunity at being head coach again,” said McIntosh. “Even if Lanay had decided to stay, I would have stayed and helped. She decided it was time to step down, though, and go back to school. I’m just glad to get the opportunity again and am looking forward to it.”
