The Chiefs bolted to a 17-point halftime lead and led by 19 early in the third quarter.
Visiting Botkins cut the Bellefontaine lead to single digits, but the Chiefs were able to keep the Trojans at bay down the stretch for a 45-38 non-league win.
Bellefontaine is now 10-4 on the season. The Chiefs won just six games last year.
“I thought the girls did a good job keeping their composure in the second half,” said Bellefontaine head coach Brian Hogan. “Some of the losses in the past have helped us pull out big wins now. The girls are showing their maturity in pressure situations. I was proud of the effort tonight.”
