Benjamin Logan’s girls basketball team did not allow itself to get rusty over the recent holiday break.

The Raiders nailed 10 three-pointers, seven coming from senior guard Jessica Yoder, in a 71-33 rout of host West Liberty-Salem in a non-league game Thursday night.

The Raiders (6-5) were nearly unstoppable in the second half. They outscored the Tigers 40-7 over the final two quarters.

“Our shooting was really good, both in the first half and in the second half,” said Ben Logan head coach Donnie Sosby. “We still have some things to work on, but overall, I thought this was a great performance.”

Yoder scored a game-high 24 points. She knocked down her first six attempts from three-point range and later tied a school record with her seventh three-pointer.

“Jessica had a tremendous night,” said Sosby.

West Liberty-Salem (5-7) stayed with Ben Logan in the first half. The Raiders led 15-13 after the opening quarter and 31-26 at halftime.

However, it was all Raiders in the second half. Ben Logan went on a 25-6 run in the third quarter and outscored the Tigers 15-1 in the final period.

Also for the Raiders, Ciarra Wirick tallied 17 points and four assists, Domonique Johnson had nine points and Taylor Quay added eight points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

Maria Daulton sparked the Tigers with 15 points and Melany Ward had 11 points.

In junior varsity action, Ben Logan held on for a 35-34 win. Lauren Oglesbee and Shelby Kramer each had seven points to lead the Raiders.

Ben Logan travels to Indian Lake on Saturday for a local Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division battle, while West Liberty-Salem hosts Triad on Saturday in an Ohio Heritage Conference contest.
