Riverside’s girls basketball team fell in the opening round of the Bradford Holiday tournament on Friday to Carlisle 45-34.
The loss drops the Pirates to 1-9 on the season. They play in the consolation game at 1 p.m. today.
The Indians led 12-11 after the opening period and 20-15 at halftime.
Carlisle began to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring the Pirates 10-3 to open up a 12-point cushion (30-18).
Brooke Hickey paced the Pirates with nine points and Chelsea Giles added six points and seven rebounds.
The Pirates’ junior varsity team also competed and won 25-10 over Troy Christian. Abby Proffitt led the team with eight points and Taylor Stevens had five points.
