Tigers claw Indians for big OHC win

West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball wore down visiting Mechanicsburg on Friday and ran away with an 84-64 Ohio Heritage Conference victory.

The Tigers are now 2-1 overall and start league play at 1-0. The Indians fall to 1-3, 0-1.

The offense got rolling early for WL-Salem as it led 28-17 after the first quarter.

The Tigers outscored the Indians 23-12 in the second quarter to give themselves a 51-29 lead at halftime

WL-Salem continued to hold a comfortable cushion after three quarters with a 69-48 lead.

The Tigers blitzed the Indians with a balanced offensive attack. Four WL-Salem players reached double digits. Max Bailey, Travis Mayse and Landon Hormann had 15 points apiece and Grant Burden had 14 points.

The Tigers also won the junior varsity game 46-36. Austin Miller led the Tigers with 14 points and Brandon Adams had 11 points.

WL-Salem hosts Southeastern on Tuesday for another OHC contest.
