The Bellefontaine American Legion baseball team advanced to the state tournament in 1973, a rare achievement considering the powerful Lima squads that Bellefontaine always had to go through.
In celebration of the upcoming 40th anniversary of that season, team members Tom Marine and Scott Albert are organizing a reunion.
According to Marine, they have had trouble locating some of the players on the squad.
Along with Marine and Albert, players on the 1973 squad included John Bault, Jim Cushman, Steve Donohoe, Mark Elliott, Steve Hammond, Ed Hildreth, Mike Kerns, Robin Long, Kip Louden, Matt Myers, Dave Nichols, Chris Peters, Steve Ralston and Randy Williams.
Kent Tennant was the coach and the late Dick Smith was the team’s manager. Chris Hildreth was the bat boy and the late Bruce Haw was the scorekeeper.
