Bellefontaine girls bounce Braves, move to 4-0

Jazmyn Haley sparks BHS in 64-42 CBC win

Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team is 4-0 for the first time since the 2000-01 season after beating host Springfield Shawnee 64-42 on Saturday.It was the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division opener for the Chiefs.

Bellefontaine combined balanced scoring and strong defense to overwhelm the Braves.

The Chiefs led 31-18 at halftime and held a 47-26 advantage after three quarters.

Bellefontaine shared the ball well with 15 assists and the Chieftain defense came up with 13 steals.

Junior forward Jazmyn Haley powered Bellefontaine with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Whitney Rader contributed 10 points for the Chiefs, Brenda Johnson had nine points and Sajah Carter, Julia Hunt and Regan Price added six points apiece.

Price also had seven assists and four steals.

Bellefontaine returns to action Wednesday at Greenon. For those fans planning on attending, the Rocky Point bridge near Greenon High School is closed and an alternate route will need to be used.
