The popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to grow around the world.
A local man is joining in the spread of the UFC into China.
Bellefontaine fight instructor Scott Sheeley, who owns and operates Ohio Fitness & Martial Arts, will be in the corner for MMA legend Cung Le in Le’s fight against veteran Rich Franklin on Saturday in Macau, China.
The fight is the main event on the “UFC on Fuel TV 6” card. The main card begins airing at 9 a.m. local time Saturday.
The UFC has made several trips overseas, but this will be the first stop in China.
“The atmosphere here is great for this fight,” said Sheeley via e-mail from China earlier this week. “They have pictures of Cung and Rich all over China, Hong Kong and Macau on taxicabs, buildings, street signs and on a ton of TV ads.
