Riverside’s Comer up for elite award

Riverside senior Heather Comer has been selected to the list of Ohio finalists for the prestigious Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

Only 20 prep athletes, 10 boys and 10 girls, from across the state were picked as finalists for the award. There were 2,040 applicants from Ohio.

The program is in its 19th year. Monday, one male and one female finalist will be named the state winners. Of the winners from each state, 12 will then be selected as national finalists and they will go on to compete for the national award. The national winners will be honored Dec. 7 in New York City.
