Boys team peaks at right time to punch return ticket to state

West Liberty-Salem’s boys cross country team has a nothing-to-lose mentality heading into Saturday’s state cross country meet.

The Tigers were not expected to qualify to the Division III state meet this Saturday, but that didn’t matter to them.

An incredible and inspired effort at the regional meet saw WL-Salem earn back-to-back state appearances for the first time since the 1995-96 seasons.

“To go last year and then to make it back this year when it was least expected is an amazing feeling,” said WL-Salem head coach Mike Louden.
