Lima Perry found a spark in the third quarter Friday against host Ridgemont and used that to propel itself to a 55-0 win in a Northwest Central Conference finale.
The Gophers finish the season with a 5-5 record and are 2-4 in the NWCC. The last time they went 5-5 was during the 2005 season. The Commodores end the year 5-5, 3-3.
Perry recorded a safety in the first quarter and then scored on a touchdown run and added a two-point conversion. That put the Commodores ahead 10-0.
In the second quarter, Lima Perry used two more rushing touchdowns to extend its lead to a 22-0 score at halftime.
The Commodores’ big third quarter saw four trips to the end zone. Perry used two touchdown runs to build a 34-0 lead. They added a TD pass for a 40-0 score.
Perry’s defense then came up big as the Commodores took an interception back for a score to take a 48-0 lead.
The fourth quarter saw Perry tack on another touchdown run.
For Ridgemont, Chris Weyent had 24 rushing yards and 11 receiving yards on offense and 12 tackles and an interception on defense. Devin Rowe added 10 tackles and Colin Turner tallied 12 tackles.
