Mac-O-Chee club hosts two nights of racing action

The Mac-O-Chee Quarter Midget Racing Association hosted two nights of racing at its track in West Liberty last weekend.

Friday‚Äôs schedule included the fifth leg of the Friday Night Shootout Series. The feature races started with a full-field inversion. 

The Red Rookies took to the track first, and the race ended with a near photo finish. Taylor McConahay raced her way to the front from the third position, beating Morgan Hamby by a bumper. Erin Hamby came in third and Baylee Howard finished fourth. 

The Blue Rookie race was a battle among family. Zach Stevens, the youngest driver on the track, took first place over cousin Tom Stevens and brother Cody Stevens. 

Junior Honda points leader Wyatt Pelfrey did not disappoint as he raced his way from the fourth position to finish first in the feature. Springfield driver JJ Donnaker finished second, Taylor Gruss finished third and Hayden Wren finished fourth.
