Ridgemont’s football team tasted defeat for the first time this season as host Fairbanks raced to a 48-14 win in Northwest Central Conference action.
The Gophers are now 3-1 overall and start NWCC play at 0-1. It was the first win for the Panthers (1-3, 1-0).
Fairbanks took command early, jumping ahead 28-0 after the first quarter. The Panthers scored 13 more points in the second quarter for a 41-0 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter, Fairbanks had a touchdown to take a 48-0 lead.
Ridgemont’s Tyler Tillman got the Gophers on the scoreboard in the third quarter with a 35-yard TD pass to Devin Brown.
The Gophers had another touchdown in the fourth quarter when Tillman threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Corey Eversole.
Tillman finished the game with 120 yards passing and two touchdowns and 28 rushing yards.
Tim Cowan had 53 rushing yards on nine carries and Brown had 87 receiving yards on six catches.
Ridgemont hosts Upper Scioto Valley on Friday in Northwest Central Conference action.
