WL-Salem opens league play Friday at Southeastern

West Liberty-Salem’s attempt to repeat as Ohio Heritage Conference champions begins Friday.

In a league like the OHC, every game is critical and the Tigers know it will not be easy as they begin their title defense with a trip to Southeastern in the league opener.

“Every time you play a league game it is important,” said WL-Salem head coach Toby Smith. “It is important that we take care of business on Friday if we expect to be in contention for a league title.”

WL-Salem (3-0) won the OHC championship last season and has been league champs two of the last three years. The Tigers have only lost four league games in the past five years.

“Our league has been won by someone who has run the table (7-0) four of the last five years,” said Smith. “There is little room for error and you have to be ready to go every week.”
