Having to replace a big senior class from last season, Benjamin Logan’s softball team started off a little slow this spring.
But the Raiders are rolling now. They picked up their biggest win of the season Monday, beating host Indian Lake 8-7 in a Central Buckeye Conference game.
The Raiders, who have won eight straight games after starting the season 3-3, are now 11-3 overall and 6-3 in the CBC.
Indian Lake, last year’s Division III state runner-up, falls to 12-2, 8-2. The Raiders set the tone early Monday, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning.
Indian Lake, ranked fifth in this week’s Division II state poll, scored a run in the third inning to make it 6-1. The Lakers then scored three times in the fifth to get within two at 6-4.
Ben Logan tacked on two big insurance runs in the sixth to lead 8-4.
Indian Lake turned in an admirable rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs and getting the potentially tying run to second base for the Raiders were able to get out of the jam.
Keeli Rostorfer powered the Raiders at the plate, going 3-4 with a double and two RBI. Bailee Stover went 2-4 with a home run and two RBI, Kyndal Cronkleton went 2-4 and Brooks Myers and Courtney Bowers each had an RBI.
Adilynne Gregg was the winning pitcher. She gave up five earned runs, walked two and struck out one.
Madison Brentlinger suffered the loss for the Lakers. She gave up eight hits, eight earned runs, struck out four and walked six.
Brentlinger led Indian Lake’s offense, going 3-4 with an RBI. Haylee Edwards went 2-4, Porscha Davis had two RBI, Halle Roby went 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Kayleigh Zedlitz went 2-3 with an RBI.
The two teams will battle again Wednesday at Ben Logan, but first the Raiders host Tecumseh today and the Lakers are at Graham.

Pirates shut out Lehman
Riverside coasted past host Lehman 10-0 in five innings in a Three Rivers Conference softball game Monday.
The Pirates move to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the TRC. Lehman drops to 3-8, 1-6.
Riverside scored a run in the second inning for a 1-0 lead. The Pirates then blew the game open with six runs in the third frame. Riley Dillon allowed only one hit in getting the victory. She struck out one and walked two.
Offensively for the Pirates, Miah Carmen went 3-4 with two RBI, Keira Manahan had a home run and three RBI and Taylor Dillon had two RBI.
The Pirates are back in action today at home against Troy Christian.

Chiefs fall to London
Bellefontaine’s softball team dropped a Central Buckeye Conference game to host London 11-6 on Monday.
The Chiefs are now 8-8 overall and 3-6 in the CBC. London improves to 9-7, 6-5.
Bellefontaine led 5-0 after 2 1/2 innings, but the Red Raiders scored seven runs in the bottom of the third to jump ahead 7-5.
Bellefontaine made it 7-6 with a run in the fifth, but London put the game away with four runs in the sixth. Alexza Clifton led the Chiefs at the plate, going 3-3 with two home runs. Addison Wical added a double.
Bellefontaine plays at Urbana today
