Nick A. Johnson, 87, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born in Lima on March 7, 1926, to the late Alex N. and Anna Kanaris Johnson. He also was preceded in death by his twin brother, James Alex Johnson.
Nick is survived by his good friend, Dixie Alexander of New Hampshire; a brother, John A. Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; sister-in-law, Helen Morris of Urbana; and several nieces and nephews.
Nick owned and operated Nick’s Delicatessen in Bellefontaine for many years.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Italy, Nick was a licensed pilot and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Springfield, the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary, the American Legion for 68 years, Elks, D.A.V. and the Drum and Bugle Corps.
Nick collected memorabilia and loved to fish in Canada and feed the birds.
Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. until a funeral at 3 p.m. Friday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine. Burial is in the Bellefontaine Cemetery, with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
