Eugene C. Stone, 91, of Lakeview, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at Heartland of Indian Lake.
He was born in Mt. Sterling, Ky., on Feb. 12, 1922, to the late Charles and Etta Mae Lawson Stone.
On Dec. 8, 1945, he married the Margaret Trent in Mt. Sterling, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2012. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by three children, Phyllis Jean Whitt of Roaring Springs, Pa., Steve (Terri) Stone of New Carlisle, and Sterling (Linda) Stone of Okeechobee, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Olema Bramble of Winchester, Ky., and Janice Varner of Mt. Sterling, Ky.
Eugene served in the United States Army during WWII. He farmed while he lived in Kentucky and after moving to Ohio, he began working for Wright- Patterson AFB as a construction contractor for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, fishing, hunting and trapping small game and wintering with Margaret at Lake Okeechobee, Fla.
Pastor Philip K. Chilcote officiates funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, with visitation one hour prior. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
