George C. Forsythe Sr., 75, of East Liberty, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in East Liberty on Nov. 8, 1937, to the late Walter and Bertha Peter Forsythe. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Forsythe.
On Dec. 29, 1981, he married the former Jeanne Sheeley in Bellefontaine and she survives, along with sons, George C. Forsythe Jr. of Russells Point, John (Anne) Forsythe of Bellefontaine and Michael Forsythe of Columbus; his brother, Lloyd (Betty) Forsythe of East Liberty; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
After 45 years, George retired from the railroad, where he worked as a conductor and a brakeman.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine where he was an elder emeritus. He also was a member of the East Liberty Masonic Lodge 247, the Shriners, the Indian Lake Moose and the Logan County Friendly Senior Center.
He enjoyed the game of euchre, played in several tournaments and he also enjoyed bowling, and was secretary for the church league for 27 years.
George was an organist and an accomplished musician who played instruments by ear.
A funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Masonic service. Burial is in the East Liberty Cemetery.
