Michael C. “Mike” Van Buskirk, 60, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 9, 1952, a son of Dorothy M. Roach Van Buskirk, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late Ronald N. Van Buskirk.
Survivors include his son, Justin (Melissa) Van Buskirk of Bellefontaine; a sister, Connie Miller of Centerville; his grandchildren, Gavin Michael and Maelee Jo, and stepgrandson, Ethan; a niece, Jami (Pradeep) Kumar of Campbell, Calif.; and a nephew, Gregg Miller of Franklin.
A 1971 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for D.A.B. for 38 years before retiring and then he passed newspapers for the Bellefontaine Examiner.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to follow The Ohio State University Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. He had a great love for all animals and creatures, and was an outdoorsman as well as a novice birdwatcher.
Pastor Jonathon Bull officiates a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff, with military honors by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to any cancer charities of the donors’ choice.
