William D. Columber, 69, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away April 27, 2013, after losing his battle with cancer.
He is survived by his life partner, Carol Schechterle of Sarasota, Fla.; his sister, Kathleen Kizer of Centerville; his son, David (Cheryl) Columber of Bradenton, Fla.; his daughter, Janet (Joseph) Wagner of Douglasville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Steven (Lauren) Wagner, Emily Wagner, Amy and Erin Wassel; and three great-grandchildren, Darwin, Marlee and Launna Wagner.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, who received the Outstanding Unit Award, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 312.
Per his wishes, no memorial service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Bay Pines Medical Center, www.baypines.va.gov, (727) 398-9394, where he received such excellent care during the last months of his life.
