Vernon L.W. ‘Vernie’ Wildermuth

Vernon L.W. “Vernie” Wildermuth, 89, of Botkins, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing & Rehab Center, Minster.

He was born in Shelby County on Sept. 19, 1923, to the late George and Matilda Kempfer Wildermuth. He also was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wildermuth; and three sisters, Mildred Weidel, Elsie Keysor and Miriam Zwiebel.

On Jan. 20, 1945, he married the former Ludema Bennett and she survives, along with two daughters, Mickie (Doug) McGowan of Botkins and Sandra (Byron) Faler of Wapakoneta; a son, Robert (Barbara) Wildermuth of Bellefontaine; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Marcille (Richard) Sailor of Wapakoneta; a brother, Ermine (Marlene) Wildermuth of Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A lifelong farmer, he was a member of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed woodworking.

Pastors Shannon Vogelezang and Richard Faust conduct a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church in Jackson Township. Visitation is from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center, and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial is in New Loramie Valley Cemetery, Botkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church.
