David L. Lapp, 73, of West Liberty, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence from complications of cancer and multiple sclerosis.
He was born in Champaign County on Feb. 17, 1940, to the late Boyd A. and Ruth E. Hartzler Lapp. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Kirkendall.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lapp; a son, Richard (Diane) Stayrook of Belle Center; grandchildren, Ryin Stayrook and Kasie, Shane and Taylor Quay, all of Belle Center; his sisters, Sara (Ralph) Janzen of Buhler, Kan., and Carol (Tim) Graber of Hurley, S.D.; his brothers, John (Jane) Lapp of Manheim, Pa., Sam (Gail) Lapp of Crowley, Texas, Joe (Sarah) Lapp of Anderson, Ind., and Steve (Miriam) Lapp of West Liberty; a brother-in-law, Darrel Kirkendall of Bluffton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A 1958 graduate of Salem High School, he retired in 2000 from Honda of America, Marysville, where he worked many years.
He loved his tractors and loved to be outdoors working in his lawn and landscaping.
West Liberty United Methodist Church Pastor Lee Ortman conducts a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, West Liberty. No visitation is planned and a private burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Liberty.
Family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice, 701 S. Main St., Bellefontaine 43311.
