John D. “Denny” Greene, 66, of Bellefontaine, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born in Urbana on Oct. 31, 1946, to the late John and Erdean Midgley Greene. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Horne.
On June 8, 1968, he married the former Judy Berry in Bellefontaine and she survives, along with their children, Heather (Chris) Horne of Kenton, Dane (Kacy) Greene of East Liberty and John Devin (Carla) Greene of Bellefontaine; his sisters, Cheryl (Warren) Campbell of Alexandria and Sharon (Gary) Kegg of Westerville; and six grandchildren, Dustin, Brayden, Dalton, Kenidi, John Derek and Cameo.
In 2009, he retired from Honda of America, where he was a quality control engineering coordinator at the Marysville motorcycle plant.
An Air Force veteran of Vietnam, he was a member of the American Legion Post 173 and the BPOElks 132, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler, and was a founding member of the Logan County Archers.
He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, muscle cars and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed handgun competitions and was competitive in archery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine. A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Highland Memorial Cemetery, with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
