Floyd Edward “Eddie” Campbell, of Marshallville, Ga., died Sunday, April 14, 2013.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Feb. 19, 1931, to the late Floyd Monroe Campbell and Elizabeth George Campbell Frazier. He also is preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Campbell.
In 1953, he married the former Davine Vining and she survives, along with their children, Gary (Kay) Campbell of Perry, Ga., Mike (Bonnie) Campbell, Greg (Tasha Alyea) Campbell and David (Susan) Campbell, all of Marshallville, Ga.; grandchildren, Andy and Shay Campbell of Haynesville, Ga., Nicholas Campbell of Soperton, Ga., Abby Campbell, Stephanie Campbell, Ryan Campbell, Eric Campbell, Jonathan Campbell, Amber Campbell and Ben Campbell, all of Marshallville, Ga., Christine Campbell of Statesboro, Ga., and great-grandchildren, Madison Campbell and John Luke Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a U.S. Army paratrooper during the Korean War and, in 1961, he and Lowell Athon founded A-C Gas Service Inc. His children and the gas company were his life.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed participating in archery tournaments and taught his sons all they needed to know about hunting and fishing. On his 82nd birthday, he and his family made their own archery range called “Golly What A Gully.”
Dr. Charles Carter officiates a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley, Ga. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church St., Fort Valley.
