Edith Ellen Green Stumbo, 73, of Antioch, Calif., went to be with the Lord Monday, April 8, 2013.
She was born in Bellefontaine on April 6, 1940, a daughter of the late Wilbur “Sy” and Lucile Biederman Green.
On May 28, 1960, she married Ernest Franklin Stumbo, who preceded her in death June 4, 2002. She also was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Stumbo Jr., on March 21, 2011; a grandson, Dylan Roger Stumbo, on April 24, 2010; one niece, Lisa Kay Green; and one nephew, Darrel Green Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori Adkins of Antioch, Calif.; two grandsons, Jonathon and Benjamin Adkins of Antioch; a daughter-in-law, Vikki Stumbo of Gallipolis; granddaughter, Tiffany Hurst of Gallipolis, two brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Green of Kenton and Darrel Green of Rushsylvania; one sister, Cheryl (John) Fay of Rushsylvania; five nieces; two nephews; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She grew up in Silver Creek, Hardin County, and was a member of the Silver Creek Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star.
She attended Ridgeway School and was salutatorian of the Class of 1958. She attended White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus.
She settled in West Mansfield with her family and worked for Dr. Thompson. She later moved to Gallia County where she retired from the Bossard Memorial Library, Gallipolis, after many years of service driving the bookmobile.
She loved taking long walks and knew all the wildflowers by name. She liked watching the birds come to her feeders and the deer that wandered through her yard.
She moved to California in 2011 to be near her daughter and grandsons.
