Samuel J. Bevington, 61, of Russells Point, passed away Wednesday evening, March 27, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born in Kenton on Jan. 8, 1952, to the late Franklin and Margaret Potter Bevington. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Bevington and Helen Dickinson.
On Nov. 14, 1987, he married the former Patricia Nichols in West Mansfield and she survives, along with six children, Deborah (Clay) Barger of West Liberty, Becky Bevington of Bellefontaine, Angie (Gary) Stiner of Portsmouth, Scott (Julie) McMillen of Sidney, and Shelly (Scott Price) McMillen and Stacy (Zack Peters) McMillen, both of Lakeview; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Peggy (David) Frazier of West Mansfield, and Phyllis (Fred) Yoder and Margaret (Mike) Brunke, both of Bellefontaine; one brother, Robert Bevington of Bellefontaine; an uncle, Lester (Carol) Potter of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
He attended West Liberty-Salem High School and was retired from the village of Russells Point, where he had worked in the Water Department for 13 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and OSU Buckeyes. He loved being with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Visitation is two hours prior to a funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
