Betty E. Winegardner, 84, of Waynesfield, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Gardens at Wapakoneta.
She was born in Lima on Jan. 22, 1929, to the late Robert and Rowena Barnes Wolfe.
On May 29, 1948, she married Russell Winegardner and he preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2007. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert Wolfe.
Survivors include two sons, Greg (Jill) Winegardner of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rod (Jenny) Winegardner of Waynesfield; three daughters, Sheila (Sam) Bush of Stuart, Fla., Jill (Ron) Gillette of Wapakoneta and Julie Winegardner of Lakeview; a sister, Lois “Sue” (Jim) Collins of Alabama; 15 grandchildren, Tracy and Shawn Liggett, Matthew, Dustin, Travis, Justin, Caleb, Jesselyn and Addeline Winegardner, Ashli Dennehy, Nathan, Colby and Kristen Gillette, Katrina Butler and Megan Byrd; 20 great-grandchildren, Skylar, Braydon, Elise, Ivan, Gena and Jayden Liggett, Maren, Mason Gregory, Adair Grace and Harper K. Winegardner, Fiona Dennehy, Taylor, Bryce and Jaxson Butler, Ethan, Mason and Mya Gillette and Heidi, Evelyn and Wyatt Byrd.
A graduate of Lima South High School, Betty was a member of Waynesfield Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer. She logged 9,657 hours over 16 years as a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was a secretary for Cummings Insurance Agency and the Yale Law Office.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield, and one hour prior to a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Waynesfield Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Don Smith. Burial is in Willow Branch Cemetery.
