Shirley June Carpenter, 75, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Logan Acres.
She was born in Champaign County on Oct. 27, 1937, to the late Dorothy L. Acker.
She was married to Richard J. Carpenter from 1961 to 1977 and he preceded her in death in 2009. She also was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lynn Carpenter, on Oct. 22, 2011.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Autumn Whitt of Clintwood, Va., and Kellie Carpenter of Florida; two great-grandsons of Clintwood, Va.; nieces, Doris Keith, whom was by her side at her time of death, and Mary Jane Hatfield, both of Huntsville; a nephew, Pete Hatfield of Anna; and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A homemaker, she resided at Logan Acres for 15 years and previously attended Hillcrest Baptist Church, Bellefontaine.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzle books, watching Animal Planet on television, and going for rides with family and friends.
Pastor Greg Haisley officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at Eichholtz Funeral Home of Bellefontaine, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in the Kingscreek Cemetery.
