O. Pearl Crofut, 92, formerly of Huntsville, passed away Saturday morning, March 9, 2013, at Green Hills Community, West Liberty.

She was born in Guernsey County on Oct. 3, 1920, to the late Alba Raymond and Lyda Olive Smith Inglish.

On Oct. 23, 1940, she married Darwin H. Crofut in Antrim and he preceded her in death Sept. 13, 2010. She also was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Charles Thornton.

Survivors include her children, Carol Crofut of Grove City and Gary (Susie) Crofut of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) Ryan of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Kevin (Lacie) Crofut of Richwood; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Bethany Crofut; and a niece, Susie (William) Higgenbotham of Hilliard.

She was a 1938 graduate of Madison High School in Guernsey County. In 1951, she moved from Londonderry to Huntsville, where she and her husband purchased the Huntsville Grain Co. and renamed it Crofut Grain & Feed. After operating more than 16 years, they opened Crofut Barber & Beauty Supply. She was the bookkeeper for both businesses.

She was a member of the former Belle Center Eastern Star and later the Bellefontaine Chapter 459 OES.  She was past vice president of the Logan County Republican Party and was a member of Huntsville Presbyterian Church.

With Darwin, she enjoyed 16 autumns and winters at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where they were members of the Michigan Snowmobile Association and the Western Snowmobile Association. She was proud of the fact that she crossed the Continental Divide riding a snowmobile.

The Revs. Ben Beres and Russell D. Williams officiate a funeral at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home of Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Londonderry Cemetery, near Cambridge.
