Norma L. Summers Herring, 77, went to be with her Lord at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital, after battling a long illness.
She was born in Huntsville on Dec. 11, 1935, to the late John Robert and Audrey Lucile Tracy Wallace.
On July 15, 1955, Norma married Robert L. Summers in Huntsville and he preceded her in death April 10, 1972. She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” Summers.
In 1977, she married Russell L. Herring and he survives, along with a brother, Richard “Dick” Wallace of Marion; her children, Rod (Terri) Summers of Rushsylvania and Shane (Kim) Summers and Cheri Alltop, both of Bellefontaine; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Summers of Bellefontaine; 10 grandchildren, Janie, Ashley, Rod “Roddie”, Jill, Austin, Sierra and Johnny Summers, and Brison, Beau and Brianna Swank; and several nieces and nephews.
A State Tested Nurse Aide, she worked at Logan Acres and retired after more than 20 years of service.
She was a member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ and enjoyed going to the casinos and spending time with her family.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where Pastors John James and Craig Howie officiate a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial is in the Huntsville Cemetery.
