Harriette M. Cookston, 73, of Springfield, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.
She was born in Urbana on Nov. 3, 1939, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Cossetta Sutteth Solberg. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Delores Callicoat.
Harriette is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Brian Preston; grandchildren, Caitlin Preston; sister, Denise Bodoski; niece, Kim Clark; nephews, Ken Cookston, Charlie Cookston and Joe Cookston; and numerous friends.
Harriette worked in housekeeping at the IOOF Home in Springfield for about four years and also worked at the Northridge Lanes Bowling Alley.
She loved crocheting and sewing and in her younger years she enjoyed camping with her family.
Harriette adored her daughter and granddaughter and loved spending time with them.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walter & Smith Funeral Home, Urbana, where a celebration of life begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Oakdale Cemetery.
