Donald Eugene Ruble, 71, of Belle Center, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born in Belle Center on Jan. 27, 1942, to the late Alpha and Geraldine Royer Ruble. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Bair; and a brother, Ed Ruble.
On Dec. 31, 1960, he married the former Essie F. Butler and she survives, along with two daughters, Lori (Jim) Clary of Belle Center and Donna (Ken) Gilroy of Waynesfield; a son-in-law, Rod Bair of Zanesfield; nine grandchildren, Brandon (Holly) Bair and Cody Dickinson, both of Belle Center, Layne (Brian) Smith of Delaware, Ohio, Zach Gilroy, Zane Gilroy and Halie Gilroy, all of Waynesfield, Dallas (Stephanie) Clary, Brandon (Megan) Clary and Dustin (Whitney) Clary, all of Bellefontaine; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy (John) Pearson of Kenton; two brothers, John Ruble of Belle Center and Bill (Joyce) Ruble of Bellefontaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The former mayor of Belle Center from 1992 to 2007, he retired as a self-employed contractor and had previously worked at Westinghouse for 21 years. He was a member of the Belle Center United Methodist Church.
He also served on the Belle Center Village Council for several years and was a former member of the Richland Township Fire Department.
The Rev. Jim Burton officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the Eichholtz-Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Belle Center, where visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
