Leroy “Lee” A. Wells, 76, of Delaware, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.
Leroy was born in Galena on Feb. 23, 1935, to the late Theodore and Crystal Fleming Wells. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel, and two sisters, Rosemary and Joyce.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Anne and Bruce; grandchildren, Bobby and April Justice; foster daughter, Terri Stevens; brother, Paul Wells of Texas; uncle, Robert (Betty) Wells of Ft. Myers, Fla.; aunt, Virginia Wells of Delaware; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In 1953, he graduated from Elm Valley High School and worked at North American Aviation before joining the Air Force. He was stationed in England and France, before being honorably discharged in 1963.
He met the love of his life, Patricia, in Belgium, where she was working at the time. They were married in London, England, on Jan. 17, 1959.
He loved to fly his airplane, a 1949 Ercoupe and torment his passengers with his antics.
Known as “The Mayor of Kamp-A-Lott,” he and his faithful companion, Shadow, would tour the campground to “inspect.” He dearly loved to go to Kamp-A-Lott just as soon as the weather would break to play corn hole with his friends. A celebration there is planned for a later date.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St., Delaware, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life service follows. Casual dress requested.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus 43215.
Arrangements were handled by the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, where condolences may be expressed at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
