Susan M. “Sue” Hurley, 84, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2013, at Logan Acres Care Center.
She was born in Springfield on July 21, 1928, to the late Charles F. and Florence Cowgill Jenkins.
On Sept. 8, 1946, she married Raymond E. “Ray” Hurley in Springfield and he preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2006. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Bynum and Virginia Bainter; and a son-in-law, Steve Davis.
Survivors include her children, Marcus R. Hurley of Roswell, N.M., Peter A. Hurley of Belle Center, Jennifer (Ron) Hollon of Harrod and Amy S. Davis of Bellefontaine; 10 grandchildren, Ben, Rachel, Avery, Jesse, Molly, Chris, Emma, Seth, Erin and Sean; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Millie Parr of New Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and was a former Logan County Board of MRDD member.
She raised poodles and was a great animal lover.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday at the Huntsville United Methodist Church, where visitation is one hour prior. Burial is in Garwood Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics and the Humane Society Serving Logan County.
