Carl Joseph Bleininger Jr., 79, of Rushsylvania, passed away Friday evening, Jan. 25, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in Montgomery County on Sept. 27, 1933, to the late Carl J. and Mary L. Smart Bleininger.
On Aug. 6, 1955, he married the former Charlotte Jane Wolfe in Dayton and she preceded him in death Sept. 27, 1997.
He is survived by his children, Dale (Cindy) Bleininger and Doug (Stacey) Bleininger, both of Belle Center, Sara (Gary) Hale of Yellow Springs, Patt (Martin) Howard of Marysville and Bruce (Bonita) Bleininger of Jackson Center; 10 grandchildren, William (Lorri) Howard, Ashley (Doug) Stehlin, Brandon (Sarah) Bleininger, Aaron Bleininger, Kelly Hale, Heather Bleininger, Nicholas Bleininger, Julie Hale, Dennis Bleininger and Matthew Bleininger; two great-grandchildren, Noah Howard and Joseph Bleininger; sisters, Thelma Day and Myrtle Bleininger, both of Brookville, Treva Engle of Dayton and Frances (Howard) Schumacher of Englewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A lifelong farmer, he spent many years raising dairy cows and later beef cattle. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Milk Marketing Board.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Bellefontaine, where he volunteered and served as a board member of Our Daily Bread. He retired in 1998 from Benjamin Logan Schools, where he was a custodian. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
Pastor Jim Burton officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Daily Bread, c/o First Lutheran Church, Bellefontaine.
