The Rev. Gary L. Williams, 59, of Fletcher, passed away at 3:56 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in his residence.
Born in Troy on Feb. 27, 1953, he was a son of Glenna Baker Williams of Fletcher and the late Gilbert Williams.
On Dec. 15, 1973, he married his wife of 39 years, the former Yvonne Leigh, and she survives. Together they raised two children, Jason (Joy) Williams of Rushsylvania and Angela (Lucas) Woodward of Fletcher. He was a loving grandfather to four granddaughters, Leeah, Paige, Katelyn and Bella. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Sandy Williams of Conover; and several extended family members.
A 1972 graduate of Piqua High School, he received a bachelor’s of science degree from the Zanesville branch of Ohio University. In 1980, he graduated from United Theological Seminary in Dayton with a master’s of divinity degree.
He served as a pastor in Darke County, Logan County, and in Sidney, Spencerville and Crooksville. He was a member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church and served on the administrative board and as an interim pastor.
He was an administrator at Honda of Marysville. He and Yvonne enjoyed collecting.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fletcher United Methodist Church, 205 S. Walnut St., Fletcher, with a service by the Stokes Lodge 305 Free and Accepted Masons of Port Jefferson at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral officiated by Pastors Andy Perry, Greg Leigh and Raymond Gage. Burial follows in Fletcher Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fletcher United Methodist Church.
