Patricia Jane Buffkin, 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Sept. 23, 1932, to the late Clarence M. “Razz” and Lala May Brush Rowan.
On Aug. 4, 1953, she married William H. Buffkin in Richmond, Ind., and he preceded her in death April 24, 1993. She also was preceded in death by a half-brother, James M. Rowan.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine (David) First of Johnstown and Anne (John) Forsythe of Bellefontaine; five sons, William M. (Juanita) Buffkin and Robert Buffkin, both of Bellefontaine, John (Norma) Buffkin of Las Vegas, Joe (Joy) Buffkin of West Liberty and Dick (Patricia) Buffkin of Eustis, Fla.; a brother, Larry L. (Diane) Rowan of Lakeview; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A 1950 Bellefontaine High School graduate, she was a legal secretary for the government and for attorneys Mark Triplett and Beck & Beck.
A member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine, she was also an active supporter and member of the Democratic Executive and Central Committee for many years.
Mrs. Buffkin’s true passions were the lives of those around her. She was an avid Yankees fan, who enjoyed cheering her team.
She will be missed greatly.
The Rev. Patrick Sheridan officiates a funeral Mass at noon Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine.
Visitation is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine. Burial is in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
