Raymond L. Bell Jr., 70, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Room, Bellefontaine.
He was born in Bellefontaine on June 16, 1942, to the late Raymond E. Sr. and Mary Irene Fout Bell.
On April 9, 1961, he married the former Janet Brenner in Johnstown, Pa., and she survives, along with two children, J.R. (Terri) Bell of Huntsville and Christine L. (Roger) Headings of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren, Kevin (Sara Ann) Bell, Sarah Ann Bell, Melissa Sue Bell, Jason Headings and Jessica (Christopher) Anders; a great-grandson, Cayden Christopher Bell; two sisters, Barbara Lynn (John) Cummins and Beverly Anne (Bob) Minnich, both of Huntsville; a brother, Charles Michael (Karen) Bell of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1960 graduate of Washington Local Schools, he was a self-employed contractor, who enjoyed building things, woodworking and antique furniture restoration.
An outdoor enthusiast, he was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and member of the National Rifle Association and Whitetails Unlimited. He also enjoyed making wine and was an OSU Buckeyes fan.
A comedian at heart, he loved telling jokes and did not know a stranger.
Above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
The Rev. Bryan Meadows conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
