Jack O. Bishop, 81, of West Liberty, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2012, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in Middleburg on April 22, 1931, to the late Glenn and Carrie Mae Grant Bishop.
On June 4, 1952, he married the former Glenna Jean Moore in Urbana and she preceded him in death June 10, 1998. Jack also was preceded in death by his brothers Barney, Cy, Howard and Jim Bishop.
Survivors include his children, David L. (Martha) Bishop of Urbana, Patty A. (Ray) Freisthler of DeGraff and Debra Kay Saxton, Karen Sue Strayer and Kathy Jo (Ben) Gantz, all of West Liberty; grandchildren, Tony Wilson, Jeremy Bishop, LeAnne Howard, Andy Saxton, Amber Saxton, Pamela Rowe, Jesse Strayer, Beth Ropp, Ashley Gantz, Bryan Gantz, Hannah Gantz and Lucy Gantz; great-grandchildren, Jennah Wilson, Kylie Ropp, Talon Strayer, Gage Ropp, Wyatt Saxton and Mallory Bishop; brother, Bob (Donna) Bishop of Indian Lake; sister, Kathryn Miller of West Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack worked as a gas station attendant at Sohio and then spent many years with Cardinal Vending Services/AVI, where he was a “Jack of all trades” and he retired in the mid-1990s.
He enjoyed his draft horses and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home, West Liberty, where visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Middleburg Cemetery.
