Franklin A. “Andy” Hites, 71, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in Allen County on Jan. 19, 1941, a son of the late Harley Edwin and Clara Ellen Hatcher Hites. He also was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Taylor, Calista Hamilton, Martha Offenbacher, Freda Bayer, Phyllis Allen, Susan Krouskop and Millie Wills; and a brother, Willis Hites.
On Aug. 29, 1961, he married the former Charlotte Mees in Winchester, Ind., and she survives, along with sons, Ryan (Tessca) Hites of Bellefontaine and Curtis (Mika) Hites of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Hites; three stepgrandchildren, Tiffany Bridges, Zack Weldy and Chance Weldy; three sisters, Julia (Robert) Ferguson of Huntsville, Maxine Downing of Bellefontaine and Joyce (Robert) Houshel of New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He retired as a security guard with Acrux in 2006.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Germany.
He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Church of God, attended Washington Local Schools and loved the outdoors and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacations.
Brother Kerry Snapp conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff, with military rites by the Logan County Honor Guard.
