Fletcher “Zeke” Shroyer Jr., 88, formerly of Kenton, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday in Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville.
Born on Dec. 11, 1923, in Quincy, he was a son of the late Fletcher and Hatti Bell Shroyer. He married Wilma Watson on Sept. 6, 1957, and she died Dec. 11, 2008.
An independent refuse hauler for many years, he was an Army veteran of World War II and was a life member of American Legion Post 198.
Survivors include a son, Dale M. (Althea) Shroyer of Ridgeway; grandchildren, Dale Allen Shroyer, Rhonda Shroyer and Teava Yager; great-grandchildren, David Shroyer, Marcus Shroyer and Mackenzi Rhoades; and best friend, Morgie.
He also was preceded in death by sons, Carlos Shroyer, James “Joe” Sloan and David Shroyer; a daughter, Connie Watson; two brothers; and two sisters.
Calling is two hours prior to the 11 a.m. Monday funeral at Schindewolf Stevens Stout Funeral Home in Kenton. The Rev. Cory Savage officiates and burial is in Wolf Creek Cemetery where AMVETS Post 1994 conducts graveside military services.
