Anthony Deon “Tony” Haynes, 45, of Lewistown, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 15, 2012, in the Emergency Department of Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.

Born in Urbana on July 3, 1967, he was a son of Chuck and Donna Yeasel Haynes, who survive in Lewistown and Bill and Karen Nott, who survive in Cable.

On Nov. 14, 1998, he married the former Julie Palmer at the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point and she also survives, along with two sons, Justin and Chris Haynes, both at home; four sisters, Jackie (Mikel) Shoffner of Lakeview, Carla Neimeyer of Mechanicsburg, Heidi (David) Arthur of Marysville and Lizia Brown of Woodstock; two brothers, Bill (Janet Renee) Haynes of Russells Point and Toby Nott of Cable; father-in-law, Donald Palmer of Lakeview; mother-in-law, Sandra Palmer of Russells Point; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a 1985 graduate of Indian Lake High School and attended summers at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Ind., where he earned his pilot license. He also attended Hocking College and Wilmington College.

He was an excavator by trade as he loved moving earth and digging dirt, and worked for several excavating companies including Herman McBride in Jackson Center, R.D. Jones in Alger, Trucco Construction in Delaware and Levan’s Excavating in West Liberty.

He was a member of Sons of AMVETS Post 39, Lakeview.

He enjoyed traveling to Alaska, riding dirt bikes with his sons and spending time with his family. He was a true people person who did not know a stranger.

The Rev. Bryan Meadows conducts a funeral at 7 p.m. Saturday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m.
