Howard E. Saul, 85, of Wauseon, passed away at his home early Monday morning, Oct. 1, 2012.
He was born in Hamler on Oct. 20, 1926, to the late Charles F. Saul and Maude Karg Saul. He also was preceded in death by 10 siblings and a great-grandson.
On March 25, 1951, he married the former Marlene Palmer, who survives, along with four children, Roger (Nancy) Saul of Bellefontaine, Teresa (Norm) Wasielewski of Lambertville. Miss., Leon (Jill) Saul of Rockford, Ill., and Wayne (Sherry Garrison) Saul of Swanton; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A 1944 graduate of Delta High School, he was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Wauseon. He also was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau and Wauseon Masonic Lodge 349.
A lifetime farmer, he worked part time during the off-season at the Fulton County Auditor’s Office and Fulton Industries.
Some of his fondest hobbies included poetry, playing harmonica, billiards and traveling to Texas. He will always be remembered as having a great sense of humor and a jokester.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 State Highway 109, Delta, where Pastor Ruth Ann Scoby officiates a funeral at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment follows at Wauseon Union Cemetery.
