Rosemary Eileen Pummell, 94, of Rabun Gap, Ga., and formerly of Ft. Myers, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, following a recent illness.
Rosemary was born on March 15, 1920, in Logan County, Ohio, the beautiful daughter of the late Agnes Gertrude McCreary and Perry Franklin Chambers.
She was married for more than 65 years to the love of her life, Donald H. Pummell, and together they raised eight wonderful children.
She was a longtime manufacturing supervisor for Westinghouse Electric.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her children, Charlene (Wayne) Detrick, Donald (Carolyn) Pummell, Pauline “Polly” Endsley, Sharon Thornhill, Richard (Mary) Pummell and Phillip (Anne) Pummell; and daughter-in-law, Charlene Pummell. Rosemary was also blessed to be the grandmother of 25 wonderful grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, whom she also leaves behind.
Sadly, she was preceded in death by her sons, James Joseph Pummell and Jack Lee Pummell; her siblings, Doyle Chambers and Carl Franklin Chambers; and sons-in-law, John Thornhill and Edward Endsley.
Grandson, Pastor Donnie Detrick leads a memorial service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in the Chapel at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Ft. Myers, Fla., where visitation is two hours prior. Rosemary will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Serenity Garden Mausoleum.
