Helen Elizabeth Parker, 90, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday evening, July 30, 2014, at Green Hills Care Center.
She was born in Russells Point on Nov. 13, 1923, to the late William H. and Edna C. Collins Funk.
On Oct. 23, 1949, she married Lester C. Parker Jr. in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1983. Helen was also preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Funk; and sisters, Dorothy Funk and Wilda Hill.
Helen is survived by her sister-in-law, Francy Funk of Bellefontaine; nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Jeff) Moyer and Susan (Mike) Gleason, both of Bellefontaine, Rebecca (Rick) Nelson and Richard (Joyce) Funk, both of West Liberty, Keith Hill of DeGraff and Larry (Jean) Hill of Cincinnati; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many family members of her late husband Lester.
A 1941 graduate of DeGraff High School, she also had graduated from Moore’s Business School. She was a member of the Bellefontaine First Church of God, where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the choir, Missionary Board, Christian Women’s Club and the Women of the Church of God.
She and her husband Lester, operated Parker’s Cut-Rate during the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.
Pastor Ron Irick conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is one hour prior. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
