Otis D. “Brownie” Brown Jr., 71, of Westville, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, in his residence.
He was born in Urbana on Dec. 3, 1942, to the late Otis Sr. and Edith Blosser Brown.
On Nov. 24, 1989, he married Carol J. Brumfield and she survives, along with daughters, Connie (Jim) Francis, Donna (Jim) Holbrook, Deloras (Joseph Mills) Karus and Loretta ( Mike) Stroud; sons, LeRoy (Brenda) Brown, Terry (Karen) Brown and Timothy (Christina) Brown; stepchildren, Cheryll (Vall Alley) Brumfield, Craig (Suzann) Brumfield and Curt Brumfield; sister, Joyce (Jim) Jackson; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; his former wife, Ruby; several nieces and nephews; and his lifetime friend, Wally Stickley.
Otis was an avid fan of horseracing and eventually retired from the sport. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
He also cared deeply for his dogs, Neutin and Elmo, and cat, Trooper.
A celebration of life service is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jennings Farley Funeral Home, West Liberty, where visitation begins at 10 a.m.
