Penny Kay Byrd, 65, of Lakeview, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was with loved ones when she departed as she enjoyed a favorite activity, camping with her family.
Penny was born on July 7, 1949, to Betty Makris, who lives in West Liberty, and the late Paul Robert Bowsher. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, George Makris; and stepmother, Margaret “Peggy” Bowsher.
Penny married the love of her life, Dale Byrd, and they celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on July 11, 2014. She is also survived by their three daughters, Shiela (Chris) Reyman of Scottsdale, Ariz., and their daughter, Brittney Reyman of Midvale, Utah, Patricia (Rod) Sheppard and their daughter, Jamie (Derrik Trahan) Sheppard and their son, Tyler Trahan, all of Bellefontaine, and Bobbi Jo (Dwayne) Dow and their daughter, Summer Dow, of West Liberty; two brothers, Bob (Ginger) Bowsher of Olathe, Kan., and Mike Bowsher of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Michelle (Brian) Lawrence of Lima and Tina (Kim McCormick) Makris of Carmel, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, loving friends, and her devoted dog, Scottie B.
Penny will be remembered for her many passions in life: love of her family, camping, paper crafts, reading, travel, Coca-Cola, chocolate and her love of Elvis Presley, “AMSM.” She served several offices including president of the Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 Ladies Auxiliary in Lakeview. She worked as secretary for the Sons of AMVETS for the State of Ohio.
Per her wishes, her body was donated to the Wright State University Anatomical Gift Program. A celebration of her life event is at a later date.
